KCUC has contracted with two local service providers
to deliver the ARSC Basic Plus Orientation Program.
Hazardous Tek-Knowledgies (Haz-Tek) and Indiana University
Southeast (IUS) will deliver the orientation on behalf of
KCUC. KCUC members and clients rely primarily on sessions
conducted at the two service provider locations; however,
through special arrangements, orientations for large groups
may be conducted at other locations. Participants may attend
BOP at either location. Call (502)775-5968 for session
schedules.
General industrial safety orientation is offered
in two forms: "Basic Orientation Plus" and "Basic
Orientation Plus Refresher". Basic Orientation Plus is
conducted for persons who have never successfully completed
the orientation, or whose badges verifying successful completion
have expired for greater than 90 days. Refresher is available
to persons who possess badges which verify successful completion
of Basic Orientation Plus or Basic Orientation Plus Refresher,
provided that expiration dates have not occurred, or so long
as expirations occurred within ninety (90) days.
Basic Orientation Plus is a half-day program.
Highly qualified, seasoned instructors guide participants
through video based, interactive instructional units. A fifty
question test is administered and requires a minimum grade
of 70% to pass.
Each person who successfully completes a safety
orientation at KCUC receives an identification badge, valid
for one year from date of issue. If other specialized
training is completed during that year, the same badge will
be so coded, with the expiration date added for the new program.
Participant records, including tests and evaluation
surveys, are kept on file at KCUC. Verification of successful
completion will be furnished upon request to members and associate
members. A processing fee may be charged for high volume requests.
The KCUC works with ARSC in constantly reviewing
and refining the Basic Orientation Plus. However, the KCUC
does not plan to limit its offerings to this program. In the
future, the KCUC plans to offer courses such as: Site Specific
Orientations, Hazwoper, OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 (use of OSHA manuals);
Competent Person; Confined Space; CPR First Aid; and Bloodborne
Pathogens.
